The project entails the creation of a picture house or cinema that reconciliates surrounding city environment using a purely architectural formal approach. The design explores the dichotomies bewteen symmetry and asymmetry, as well as obliqueness and depth of field. Contextually, the figure-ground is defined through the gradual change of opaqueness of the façade, allowing level of reception to the ambience. The main focal points of the design are two egg-shaped structures positioned symmetrically along diagonal cuts of the site. These eggs serve as the primary theaters for projecting movies. The lower egg is designed to be translucent and can be separated into distinct sections through removable scallapes, providing flexibility in its usage. The upper egg has a more opaque surface, ensuring a fully immersive experience for moviegoers, regardless of the surrounding ambiance. The space where the two eggs intersect raises questions about its condition – it can be perceived as the exterior of the lower egg or the interior of the upper egg. This ambiguity adds an element of intrigue and engages the visitors in contemplating their spatial perception.The design language incorporates circular poche, which is not only integrated into the logic of the façade panels and the theater eggs but is also reflected in the construction of a bubble waffle structure.
